WireImageSouth Korean girl group NewJeans is on the brink of celebrating their first year in the music industry, and it seems like a spectacular present is in store for this milestone. The band’s new EP, Get Up, is generating immense buzz and is predicted to achieve a remarkable feat—claiming the coveted No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most-consumed albums and EPs in the U.S. on a weekly basis, and NewJeans‘ Get Up is expected to make a grand entrance. Music industry publication HitsDailyDouble forecasts that the EP is likely to debut atop the Billboard 200 with an impressive 130,000 equivalent units, with a substantial portion of those being pure purchases—perhaps exceeding 100,000 units.
Although NewJeans faces competition from the recently released Barbie soundtrack, which is projected to open in second, the closeness of the race remains to be seen.

Get Up is poised to mark not only NewJeans‘ first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 but also their first top 10 win. This achievement is remarkable considering that the group has not yet made an appearance on the chart before.
The lead single from the EP, “Super Shy,” has already made its debut on the Hot 100 chart, entering at No. 64 this week. With the full collection set to make its mark on various Billboard charts, it is highly likely that other tracks from the project will follow suit and find their place among the most-consumed songs in the country.
Billboard is expected to announce the EP’s chart-topping success just a day or so before the one-year anniversary of NewJeans’s entrance into the music industry. The group made their debut with an EP titled New Jeans on August 1, 2022. Their single album, titled OMG, released earlier in 2023, produced more hits.
